Meet our Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncturist

Amy Quillan, R.Ac., RMT

Registered Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist

Amy McQuillan studied Massage Therapy at Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in Fredericton, NB in 2013-2015. Having the massage background first gave her a deeper understanding of the body which helped her learn the acupuncture points when she began her studies in 2016-2018 at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. During her two years there, she learned a variety of techniques to treat dis-ease. Some of which were fire cupping, learning to use an electro-acupuncture machine, Guasha which uses a tool to massage a very tight area on the body to release tension and heat. She also took facial rejuvenation acupuncture post graduation to treat age lines and face/neck sagging.

She is a real people person and enjoys making all feel at ease and comfortable. She is experienced in addressing a variety of issues including acute and chronic pain, neurological conditions, mood and sleep disorders, headaches, digestive issues, but especially connecting the mind to the body. Her approach is with much compassion, personalized and very thorough. Always keeping the patient’s best interests at heart and setting her intentions very carefully and with dedication. Empowering the patient is her motto and she strives to make a difference in your health and wellness.

What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Facial Acupuncture uses ultra fine needles that are inserted into specific acupuncture points on the face and body to stimulate meridians and energy in the skin.Further needles are then utilized to fill lines improving the appearance of the skin. These needles stimulate facial muscles increasing collagen synthesis, fibrin and elastin to the area.
An acupressure facial massage can be added to help unblock the channels, reduce tension from the face, head, neck and shoulders and increase circulation.
Patients are asked to attend with no make-up or skin products to allow full visibility of the skin and underlying structures.
After Treatment some minor discomfort is normal and can signal a good inflammatory response to needling. Sometimes small localized discolouration/bruising can take place as the area responds to the needling technique. It is rare but it could occur so be aware.
